Caroline’s Dream

A Review of Caroline’s Dream

Within the Paleo Community there has been an awakening ( perhaps a rude awakening) to the lurking dangers of everything we have exposed our bodies to over the years. Long work hours, artificial lights, chemical food enhancers and additives, and now we are becoming more cognizant of not only what we put into our bodies, but on our bodies as well.

And with this awakening, we have also come to realize that there’s nothing quite as awful as putting harsh and toxic chemicals on already acne prone, sensitive skin. This was also the conclusion of Susan, the owner of an organic skincare line called Caroline’s Dream.

20 years ago, Susan began formulating a line of skin products that could effectively address a variety of skin issues— without the harsh chemicals added. Using clean, whole ingredients like Sweet Almond Oil, Vermont Beeswax, Coconut Oil, and Organic Essential Oils, Susan has developed a line of skincare products that have met the awakening minds of the Paleo Movement, and pleased them.

In fact, Caroline’s Dream face creams, body creams, foot creams, and healing salves are the newest skincare products to have met the standards of the The Paleo Foundation’s Certified Paleo label.   They contain no preservatives or parabens, just clean, whole, Paleo ingredients you already know. In this review, we will tell you a little bit about our first-hand experience with the Certified Paleo products from Caroline’s Dream.

Face and Body Creams

The creams for the face and body have a crispness to them, and are great for all skin types— from normal, to oily, to combination. Not only do they leave your skin feeling refreshed, but they doesn’t dry out the skin, either. The essential oils are timeless, smell like spring, and also nourish the skin. My favorite, which took me quite by surprise, was the Sandalwood and Lavender face and body cream. Mind you, this is coming from someone who isn’t a fan of either Lavender or Sandalwood, yet somehow, this duo was a match made in heaven. In fact, I had to email Susan immediately after trying it to let her know exactly how astonished I was by this product. Astonished. The Calendula face and body cream came in at a close second for its low-key, milder scent. Scent-wise, the face and body creams get an A+.

Salves

Caroline’s Dream offers two salves, one Relief Salve and one Super Skin Salve. The Super Skin Salve is formulated with Coconut Oil and Olive Oil, Vermont Beeswax, Shea, and Coconut Butter— and kissed with comfrey, calendula, rosemary, lavender, and tea tree essences. It’s a must-have in your medicine cabinet, especially in the coming winter months where dry, cracked hands are such a pain.  Formulated with Olive Oil, Black Walnut Oil, and infused with comfrey, calendula, and tea tree oil— it’s indicated on the site that the Relief Salve is great for eczema, minor burns, and bug bites and even fungal issues (gasp!). However, she failed to mention that it’s also amazing for skin rashes— including skin rashes on pets— and even reducing the appearance of stretch marks.

Lip Balms

Last but not least, Susan hadn’t forgotten to attend to the importance of a soft pucker, either—the Sweet Orange Lip balm offers a silky smooth finish with just the perfect amount of lingering sweetness, while the Peppermint Lip Balm is cooling, and reminiscent of your favorite peppermint lip balm that you were horrified to find contained some of the most ghastly ingredients.  If you can’t read the ingredients list on your current lip balm, it’s time for a change!

Overall, we have to give Caroline’s Dream two thumbs up. It’s not very often that you’re this pleasantly surprised by a skincare line.
